Behind the Brilliance: The Modern Missionary

LauraWiseWhen I think of the word “missionary”, I think of a middle aged person wrapped in white cloth who is peace-loving and happy. I even think of them being a little granola if I’m honest.

That’s why this week’s BTB guest is so fascinating. She’s a 20-something black woman who left her fabulous life in Los Angeles to go serve as a missionary in the Philippines. Her story is an inspiring one.

We covered quite a bit of ground (pun intended) in this episode: travel, cultural gaps, the impact of American media on other cultures, and how the depiction of women of color in media affects us abroad.
